Latest upgrade includes over 100 new features including iCloud integration, new visual duty limits, and full Lion compatibility.

Portland, OR USA – Sept 22nd, 2011 – Coradine Aviation Systems today announced a major update to their logbook for Mac – LogTen Pro 6.0. The update is expected to launch this fall and includes over 100 enhancements and new features and will be a free upgrade for any pilot purchasing LogTen Pro 5 from September 20th onward.

One of the most important features of the latest version of LogTen Pro is the integration of Apple’s iCloud. Pilots will no longer have to worry about backing up their data, with iCloud backups are automatic and the latest flight data is always available, on every device. LogTen Pro 6.0 also takes advantage of full Lion compatibility including full screen, auto-save and ‘versioning’ so pilots, should they need to, can go easily go back in time with their logbook.

LogTen Pro’s legendary flexibility and ease of use continues to be a focus in this latest version. The user interface has been simplified further so pilots see only the information they have specified on the dashboard. And a new dynamic report has been added which enables pilots to print reports that reflect the exact layout they have set up on screen for themselves.

Noah Lieberman, Founder and CEO of Coradine said, “All the new features in LogTen Pro 6.0 for Mac have been requested by pilots using the application in the field. We are continually striving to provide apps that are easy to use and can be customized to each pilots individual needs. The new interface, visual duty tracking and iCloud integration are only the beginning, LogTen Pro 6.0 is truly the next generation in electronic logbooks.”

Of particular interest to commercial and business pilots is the new visual duty limits tracking screen which gives a birds eye view of a pilot’s flight time, enabling them to see past, present and future flights on a simple graph and know immediately of any potential duty limit issues with the exact date and flight highlighted in red.

Other enhancements in LogTen Pro 6.0 for Mac include:

Pilots can now enter log data other than flights. Enabling them to track all their time easily and then attribute any number of logs to a “Trip” to easily organize their time in the air and on the ground,

Pilots can now log multiple approaches per flight,

Auto-enter and ‘picker’ enhancements make entering data even faster…

<a href "http://coradine.com/logten-pro/">Check out LogTen Pro for Mac 6.0 here

Pricing and Availability

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Coming this fall, LogTen Pro for iPad will be integrated with Aspen Avionics’ Connected™ Pilot, enabling pilots to download flight time data direct from an aircraft’s panel. Pilots will be able to fill in flight data at “the touch of a button, before they set foot on the tarmac.”

Portland, OR USA – August 10th, 2011 – Coradine Aviation Systems announced today that they will be one of the first aviation software companies to integrate with Aspen Avionics’ recently announced Connected™ Pilot, the initial product of their Connected Panel™ line of products.

Connected Panel™ includes hardware, software, and application components that provide two-way wireless communications between panel avionics and personal smart devices to streamline flight-related activities. Connected™ Pilot is the first Connected Panel™ hardware and software system, and will list for under $2500. It will be available for installation via Aspen’s authorized dealer network by the end of 2011 when Aspen’s Connected™ Pilot app, designed for the iPad, will be available via the iTunes store.

In conjunction with the launch, Coradine, developer of the leading logbook software for the iPad, Mac and iPhone, will release an update to LogTen Pro for iPad that will work seamlessly with Connected™ Pilot. LogTen Pro for iPad users who install Connected™ Pilot will be able to download flight data directly from the aircraft panel before they leave the cockpit through a wireless connection – reducing data entry time and ensuring 100% accuracy.

Noah Lieberman, CEO for Coradine said, “Ever since launching LogTen Pro for iPad we’ve been hoping for this kind of development in the cockpit. This integration between LogTen Pro for iPad and Connected™ Pilot will mean pilots can complete log entries at the touch of a button, before they set foot on the tarmac. It’s another exciting step toward making the iPad the EFB of choice for pilots.”

“We are excited to have Coradine join our growing list of Connected Panel Partners,” says Brad Hayden, Vice President of Marketing for Aspen Avionics. “The integrated functionality of LogTen Pro for the iPad with Connected Panel™ demonstrates the increased capability and superior user experience this platform can provide.

At some point, you will need to prepare for upgrade. We’re not talking about pilot position upgrade, but software upgrade. To clarify, there are two types of “upgrade” in the software world. One is called an update. Updates are usually minor improvements, new features or bug fixes to a current release of software and usually only increments the version number on the right side of the first decimal (version 2.5.1 vs. version 2.6.0). The other, called upgrade, usually refers to a brand new release of software often containing a large number of new features, new user interface and usually a version number change (ie version 2.5.1 vs. version 3.0.0)

Anytime you have an update or upgrade there are some simple steps you should take to prepare for the transition. Let’s face it, not always do things go perfectly on any given flight. Well the same is true with computers and software.

1. Backup to iTunes. Often. Remember, that under the current production version of iOS software on the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, the only backup is if you connect your device to iTunes and back it up there.

2. Backup your Mac data. No hard drive is good forever. Make sure you have at least some kind of backup solution for your Mac. We love Dropbox because you can revert easily should something unexpected happen.

3. Sync between devices. If you have been out flying and making updates on your iOS device, make sure you sync that to your Mac (or other iOS) device before updating any software. This may mean you have to delay an automatic update first before getting the devices synced.

4. Ok, now you can update or upgrade. To be safe, make sure you take care of steps 1-3 before doing any update or any upgrade with software. This will ensure that your precious flight log data remains accurate and intact. Another way to think of this, is that a pilot flies an instrument approach only after preparing and briefing that approach. Think of updates/upgrades the same way – prepare ahead of time and chances are, it’s a much smoother operation!

AirShares Elite has selected LogTen Pro as its gold standard logbook software. AirShares Elite will provide a copy of either mobile edition of Log Ten Pro to its “deluxe” level customers at no charge. An increasing number of AirShares Elite owners and pilots are utilizing mobile devices in the cockpit, which led to the natural partnership between AirShares and Coradine Aviation Systems.

“Our airplanes have always been at the forefront of technology, so it’s only natural that AirShares provide the most advanced support tools to our customers” says Justin Beitler, of AirShares Elite. “This logbook software will allow our owners to record their flight times right from the airplane, eliminating the need to keep a cumbersome paper logbook.”

There are goals for ratings, for job qualifications, for personal reasons… So how do you use LogTen Pro to help you track your goals? Smart Groups can help us track our goals. Let’s take a look at a recent inquiry from a customer working on a helicopter instrument rating in the United States.

According to Federal Aviation Regulations 61.65 (e), the pilot needs to acquire a total of 50 hours of Cross-country Pilot in Command [61.65(e)(1)] time and 40 hours of either simulated or actual instrument time [61.65(e)(2)] in order to qualify for the practical exam. Using Smart Groups, he can create two groups to show him his total accumulated time leading towards those specific requirements. The number on the right of each smart group then represents the total time accumulated that matches each of the criteria.

For the Cross-Country PIC goal, set up a new smart group with two criteria matched to “All”:

Time, PIC >= 0

Flight, Distance > 50

For the Instrument Time goal, set up another smart group with two criteria matched to “Any”:

Time, Actual Instr. >=0

Tim, Sim. Instr. >=0
